It’s been a little spell, so let us get back on the track, dear friends.
This year, if all goes according to plan, I will have my hands in multiple releases. (currently two are in post production) I have already spoken about ANTHEMS: VOL. 1 several times on my blog, but I have yet to elaborate about my other plans, so here goes.
Last November, I recorded my first hip hop album with my good friend and titanic compatriot, Special K. (the boomboxx saints, hoodfellas) Together, we are MAGNUM OPUS. Tentatively titled THE SECRET SOCIETY OF GIGANTIC PEOPLES, this Magnum Opus record is chock full of towering beats, sassy hooks, potent potables, and the kind of nasty lyrical barbs best left for your nanna’s cribbage tournaments. It’s dropping sooner than you might think and the release details are to be announced very shortly. The best part is, we’re gonna be giving it away. Yeah, for free. No cash transactions, no card swipes, just some circumstantial pomp to blast through your damn headphones.
We had the great fortune to shoot a music video for our first single, “The Cleansing of the Handsome” with the always-wily Dustin Nicholson. (more details on that are coming very soon as well!) In the meantime, check out his website at http://dnicholson.4ormat.com
Also, here are more things:
Last minute show announcement for Watertown, NY on THIS FRIDAY, JANUARY 21st! (check the show listings for more info) To shake things up a bit, this will be an ALL REQUEST set, so comment with your requests or send them to arisoncain@gmail.com.
And finally, for your own safety, you should probably watch this: Optimistically Sober (Live in Adams, NY)
Keep reaching for that next rung.
i am what john lennon imagined,
michael jackson without the madness,
KISS with more theatrics,
if cobain’s exit wasn’t tragic.
Hey, space cadets! Check out this new teaser for “The Making of Anthems for the Fucked Up and Unreasonable: V0l. 1″, the documentary that will coincide with the release of the E.P. Hope you enjoy!
The Making of Anthems for the Fucked Up and Unreasonable: Vol 1. TEASER

back to the laboratory.
We have returned to Colorado, after countless hours of driving, recording, more driving, more recording, beaching, noodles, driving, photo shoots, more driving, more photo shoots, and a little more driving. I felt that I needed to elaborate a little further into the completion of ANTHEMS: VOL. 1, so I’m just gonna kick back and do that.
First thing’s first, I want to thank Dave Dominguez. Without his help and experience, ANTHEMS FOR THE FUCKED UP AND UNREASONABLE would be nothing more than a wonderful chunk of my imagination, slowly being eroded by time and my own insanity. I’ve gotta thank, Matthew Corey, Paul Stark, Katz, Rob LaVine, Nate Hertweck, David Bowick, Geoff Godfrey, The Stark Family, Tim Patenaude, Eric Binion, and everyone that helped us get through the recording process and make ANTHEMS what it is, and will be: a wonderful piece of work.
Next, I have a confession to make. We wanted to make video updates, we really did. The problem is, we ended up filming so much awesome footage, that we decided to just make a documentary about it. Coming up real soon, you’re gonna get to take a glimpse into the process that went behind the album. I can only hope you won’t be disappointed.
Last, but most certainly not least, to avoid further confusion, when we perform these songs live, we will do so under the name
Arison Cain and the Halfway Home Orchestra.
That is all. Get back to humming that song that’s been stuck in your skull.
and so it is, we’ve finished recording with dave and the mixing has begun. this is, by far, the best thing i’ve ever had the chance to be a part of. i really think you guys are going to fall in love with this album. video updates are coming very very soon, so stay tuned.
Tomorrow morning we leave to make Anthems for the Fucked Up and Unreasonable: Vol. 1.
I think it’s safe to say that I’m probably more excited than I ever have been. It’s been a rough couple of years and I’m hard pressed not to think of this as some kind of sweet redemption for the toils. The thing is, I know there will be more toils to come, there always will be. (After all, the music “industry” barely exists anymore)
Sometimes I feel like there’s barely room for artists like me in this world. It’s the steadfast support of fans, friends, family and loved ones that reminds me there IS a place for me, and keeps me waking up and doing this on the reg. I wouldn’t be on this path if it weren’t for you guys, and I’d like to think that we have a symbiotic relationship.
From the deepest cockles of my heart, thank you. Thank you for supporting me, thank you for believing in me, and thank you for understanding me, even if you don’t. This album is for you, and I promise I will not let you down.
We’re all a little fucked up and unreasonable. Be proud of it.
“Be more DIY, brah.”
I stood there, patiently listening to this asshole’s diatribe. “I don’t understand why you’d want to go making records with producers, man. Why would you want to open for bands like Weezer? We’re all about punk rock and DIY, brah. Be more DIY, brah. ”
When did self-financing your own records, merch, and touring stop being DIY? That’s what’s really “punk rock”. Don’t try to fucking convince me otherwise, brah.
On the road in less than three days. Suck my dick.
